New-build

A completely different project from our usual renovation/conversion jobs in that it is a new build. Not only a new build – but one using a technology that is rare in France . It is based on a steel frame with SIPS panels forming walls and roof structure. These were then clad in natural douglas fir to the upper floor/gables with rendered ground floor elevations and slate roof. With the amount of glazing on the southwest elevation it was necessary to design a par soleil to shade the interior from the mid day sun in high summer and provide sliding shutters for added security.

A further advantage of this type of construction is that all the insulation is contained within the structural wall / roof panels, not added to the interior faces, therefore increasing internal usable space.
